    SKILLS AND TRAINING
  Phil Wyndham: ADVENTURE SOUTH GM
It is important you (and your bike) are suitably prepared. So, what does that look like?
We are not looking for skills
in jumping gaps, drops or features but you do need to be comfortable riding single track which will be rocky, sandy, muddy, rooty or a combination of all of these.
You should be able to ride and enjoy technical climbs and descents, use your front and rear brakes to stop without skidding on loose surfaces, change gears intuitively and be
comfortable in a variety of weather conditions.
You’ll need to be fit enough to ride 6-8 hours daily, day after day and need to be used to riding climbs for several hours. You’ll also need to be comfortable with heights and riding in exposed conditions on remote trails.
We suggest you ride your mountain bike in suitable terrain for 3-5 hours a week for at least 4 months before departure. You need to be in good physical shape.
     REVIEW
“All aspects of the trip –
the trails, scenery, guides, accommodation were above my expectations when first booking the trip. The quality
of the itinerary and the guides means I will definitely be back for another trip with Adventure South NZ.”
